About Us

Center 1968 stands at the crossroads of history and progress, dedicated to empowering Black women in politics, government, and civic life. Our name and mission are rooted in the transformative year of 1968—a time of seismic change, bold leadership, and the fearless pursuit of justice. It was a year that witnessed the emergence of voices that demanded equality, dignity, and representation, especially for Black communities. Today, Center 1968 channels that same spirit of resilience, supporting the rise of Black women in all arenas of political and civic engagement.

To cultivate an inclusive political landscape where diverse leadership drives equitable change and community upliftment.

We provide nonpartisan training programs to develop future political leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to excel in both local and national campaigns.

We foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders to create unity and collective action in the pursuit of positive political and social change.

By amplifying the concerns of marginalized voices, we ensure that government policies address the needs of underrepresented communities, with a special focus on Black and Brown women.
